Amber Rose traded in her tomboyish attire for an elegant strapless gown last night at the Vanity Fair Oscar Bash. Does this mean that Amber Rose is A-list? What other celeb’s girlfriend gets an invite to the red carpet without them? Even Diddy left Cassie at home for this event.

James Bond… oh, wait, Shahrukh Khan – Filmfare co-host Things to note: -> The Filmfare Awards are the Oscars of Bollywood. -> No bad-ass motherf’ng Bachchans (Amitabh, Abhishek, Aishwarya, or Jaya) were present in protest of their ongoing slander issue with the newspaper The Mumbai Mirror (they said that Aishwarya has stomach tuberculosis, which has made her infertile) -> I don’t know why the men behind the cut have chicken suits or why they are standing in their boxers. (It’s also a HUGE deal that Shahrukh and Saif Ali Khan [no relation] have made a return to hosting as they together are the Billy Crystal of the Oscars). -> These awards will be broadcast on Sunday, March 7th

The History of the Red Carpet!

Forget about the movies: At Oscar time, in homes across America, armchair fashion critics give thumbs up or thumbs down to the clothes worn on the red carpet or on stage as presenters and awardees glam it up. But for everyone who looked at Björk in 2001 and thought “taxidermist,” someone else thought “avant-garde.” For everyone who thought Edith Head dressed Grace Kelly like a princess in 1955’s ice blue satin, someone else thought “ice queen.” Face it: No matter how many worst and best lists there are, we’re never going to agree about who looked fab or drab. But we can agree to remain spellbound by the clothes, and the reasons why, since the inception of the Academy Awards in 1929, stars have looked ravishing — or not. How did they make their choices? It’s a process far more involved than just spinning around, pointing a finger at a gown, and crying “Voilà!” Each choice has a reason — and, often — a fascinating story
